BoA is recognized as one of the top artists in Korea and Japan. Not only was she awarded “Best Artist of the Year” in 2002 in Korea, she has held the #1 spot on the Oricon Album Weekly Chart seven weeks in a row in Japan. In 2004, she proved herself once again by winning "The Most Influential Artist in Asia" from the MTV Asia Music Awards, representing both Korea and Japan. She was also invited to the 59th Festival De Cannes and posed with Bruce Willis and Avril Lavigne under heavy spotlight from major media outlets.
Boa Kwon was born on November 5, 1986. She is commonly known by most people on her stage name BoA, which is an acronym for “Beat of Angel”. BoA is a solo Korean singer that is active in South Korea, Japan and as well in the United States; she had was also entitled as the “Queen of Korean Pop Music”. The singer is born and was raised in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea; she was discovered by her current management company SM Entertainment talent agents when the latter had accompanied her older brother in a talent search contest. In the year 2000, after of her two years training, she had released ID: Peace B which becomes her debut Korean album under her management company. Two years after that, she had released her debut Japanese album entitled, Listen to my Heart under the Avex Entertainment. On the 14th of October, 2008, under the management of SM Entertainment USA, which is a subdivision of her company, she had debuted in the United States alongside with her single, “Eat You Up” and had then released her debut English language album named after her, BoA on March 17, 2009.
By the influenced of hip hop and R&B singers, such as Nelly and Janet Jackson, most of her song had followed the said genres. As it was revealed that she feels that she does not have any talent in writing songs, most of the writing and composition of her songs was done by her staffs that are why this is also the reason why she had gained more criticisms coming from people. However, the singer had begun writing her own songs for the release of her 6th Korean Album titled as Hurricane Venus.
Because of her multilingual skills such as she fluently speaks Japanese and conversational English alongside with her native Korean accent and had already recorded songs in Mandarin Chinese, all of these has been a great contribution for her success in South Korea and Japan, these also lead for her popularity to be widespread throughout the East Asian countries. It was then recorded that she is only the non-Japanese Asian who have three of her albums selling more than one million copies in the whole Japan and is only one of the two artists to have six consecutive number one spot of studio albums on the Orican charts since debut, as we all know Tohoshinki (TVXQ) is the other one of the two artists.
BoAjjang had released some more information about her Hollywood movie debut. It will be a dance film, directed by Duane Adler and will be produced by Robert Colt. The movies is titled as BOBU 3D and is set to be released on early 2012. BoA will play the role of Aya while Derel Hough will be the one to play the male lead which is Donny. The plot of the story will circulate when the two characters will fall in love with each other despite of their families being enemies on the dance scene.

On August 26th, the singer tweeted “I successfully finished performing at the 2011 Daegu IAAF World Championships and am leaving~ Now off to Japan for a concert — go-go-sing! I saw yellow ‘Jumping BoA‘ balloons for the first time in a long time and felt touched. I love you”

at the opening ceremony for the event along with many other K-Pop stars, where she was greeting by the enthusiastic cheers of her fanclub, ”Jumping BoA”. The fans also cheerfully waved balloons in BoA’s official fanclub color, yellow.

Super Junior, BoA, KARA, and more perform at opening ceremony of 2011 Daegu IAAF World Championships
On August 26th, top Hallyu stars BoA, Super Junior, KARA, Kim Jang Hoon, and Park Jung Hyun put on performances to celebrate the opening ceremony of the 2011 Daegu IAAF World Championships.
1,945 athletes from 202 countries have gathered in South Korea’s 4th largest city of Daegu to compete in various athletic events. The championships will be held from August 27th to September 9th.
Fans celebrate BoA’s 11th anniversary
BoA fan website “the-01.com” celebrated BoA’s 11th anniversary with a newspaper ad. BoA officially debuted on August 25th, 2000. On August 25th, BoA thanked her fans via twitter and re-tweeted the picture of the newspaper ad (seen above).
With a photo of her singing, the ad reads: “You’ve been with us for 11 years, yet your performances are always missed. Like we’re doing now, we’ll always stay with you. BoA lets go forever!”
Last year, the fan website also wished BoA a Happy Birthday with her picture and a message as well.

BoA becomes the third judge for ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star’
On August 25th, SBS announced that BoA would be joining their illustrious judging panel for their K-Pop star discovery program, ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star‘!
Representatives of SBS revealed, “BoA will be joining YG’s Yang Hyun Suk and JYP’s J.Y. Park as the third judge for ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star’. We’ve completed one of the best line-ups representing the best judges in Korea.”
The producers of ‘K-Pop Star’ added, “BoA is one of the first idols to let the world know about Korea. She’s definitely the best world star with amazing live singing and dancing skills. She’s famous for her sincerity and work ethic, as well as for her strong foreign language skills, which makes her the standard for everything a K-Pop star hopes to be. We’re looking forward to working with her.”
BoA commented, “I’ll be choosing the contestant who has individuality, determination, passion, and the persistence to continue to develop their talents.”
